Acronnymania

Alanna and I have entered the land of the acronym. Frequently we attend meetings with all of the international representatives. Here is the summary of an actual conversation we endured at one of the meetings.

We would like to welcome all of the INGO’s and NGO’s here today. The GA is concerned about the actions taken by the SLA and STF which has joined forces with the TMVP to fight against the LTTE. Of course this entire situation is being monitored by the SLMM and close attention is being paid by the HRW. Any security incidences involving FO’s TO’s and especially EXPATS should be reported to the ICRC. All media is being directed through the SLFMA. The increased conflict has resulted in an increased number of IDP’s . Before the IP’s can intercede a PIRA must be conducted. The PIRA info must be sent to the UNHCR who will act as the GB in this NA. UNOCHA and the UNDP has requested that all requests for NFRI’s be channeled through the IOM office. Following that each IDP will need to sign an MOU. Each INGO and NGO will need to keep track on their own FER’s. Once this is completed it must be ratified through the GS who will make his recommendation to the DS. All of the CFW’s and SME’s must reported to be included in the DLDP report sponsored by RADA. Seriously, that is not an uncommon conversation. In summary: The relief agencies are concerned about the current fighting. This is resulted in people having to leave their homes. We need to conduct a study, co-ordinate with the correct body, sign the contracts, report to various government officials and include it in a region wide summary.
