Holidays and moving (again)

Ok, very sorry to have been so out of touch. We've spent the last two weeks touring around the island with my parents and my good friend Heather. We had so much fun! It was great to see new places and also to show people around a little. We climbed a major pilgrimage peak (5200 stairs and 14 km return, starting at 1 am), toured through tea country, saw a tea factory, let our legs recover from the climb, checked out the major Buddhist temple in Kandy, climbed up Sigiriya rock (an ancient rock fortress), hung out in Colombo, went shopping (which is so much more fun here than at home), ate lots of rice and curry (for those of you who know my Dad, he did great with all the "weird food"), hung out at a luxurious beach resort and got sunburned (some of us more than others) shopped some more, tended to our stiff legs some more, and then when our legs had healed we started on the sunburns, applying aloe lotion every hour!

Now we are at our place in Kalmunai with Mom and Dad. We spent the day packing today because we are moving to Batticaloa tomorrow! Our office here shut down as most of our projects are up around Batti, so moving again for the Thompsons. In the past 7 months, we haven't lived in any one place for longer than 2.5 months! So we're hoping to stay in this place in Batti for the remainder of our time in Sri Lanka. Soon we will put up photos of the trip and the new house (not nearly as green as this one). But it may be a few days, as Scott needs to head back to Colombo for meetings and we will be moving in and organizing. Our office right now has one phone line for the phone, fax and internet...so it might be hectic for awhile!

Ok, I'd better get back at it. I promise I'll write more and post photos as soon as I can.
