Hong Kong,
Well, we're here in very smoggy Hong Kong. 13 hours in a plane, endless night...does anyone know where Thursday went?
We left Calgary at 10:30 local time, and 14 hours of flying with 9 hours in airports puts us at 1:00 pm Hong Kong time. My brain feels as smoggy as my view right now so I'm certainly not doing the math!
The Hong Kong airport is so huge! Scott and I walked for about 45 mins when we got off the plane, just to stretch our legs. From one end of the airport to the other and back! The whole airport is a human made island so flying in over the South China Sea made it seem like we were going to land right in the sea. My limited view out the tiny window was of only water, huge, huge ships, mountainous jungly islands dimly seen through the smog and then, when I thought we couldn't get any lower, the airstrip appeared below.
With 5 hours here, we really wanted to get into the city but changed our minds quickly when Scott fell fast asleep within 1 min of laying down on some airport chairs. We really have only slept about 4 hours in the last 24 and our bodies have no idea what time it should be.
Will post again when we get to Sri Lanka. Here's hoping the photocopied fax of our visa gets us into the country!
Cheers
Alanna
